Mentor & Volunteer Opportunities
Why Mentoring?
Being a consistent adult presence in a young person’s life, mentors can offer advice, share life their experiences, and help a young person navigate challenges. The development of a trusting relationship is priceless for an individual who does not have a trusted support network.
Primary Mentors connect 1:1 with a young adult at Step Up. They offer support, encouragement, and a listening ear. Primary mentors are encouraged to build relationships with the young adult though quality time spent together.
Specific Mentors provide opportunities for young adults to engage in a specific activity or skill with them, for example a cooking class, or sharing a favorite leisure time activity.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many opportunities to volunteer by sharing your time and talents. A few examples include:
Helping with landscaping and home improvement projects
Providing occasional transportation
Inviting a young adult to join you for an activity
Attending a Sunday dinner
Teaching a class or skill
Providing a night or weekend of respite for our House Managers
Contact us if you'd like to get involved. We'd love to find a fit for your time and talent to enhance the lives of the young adults we serve.
