Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator shall assist participants in establishing goals that will help the participant achieve growth and self efficacy in the following areas:

  • Life Skills
  • Finances and Money Management
  • Life Skills
  • Finances and Money Management
  • Education
  • Job and Career
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Important Documents and Supports
  • Health Information
  • Spiritual, Community, Culture, Social Life, and Relationships

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for conducting and maintaining a written record of regular meetings with each participant to assess their progress with achieving such goals and/or addressing any barriers to success.

The Program Coordinator will work with mentors and support personnel to identify and assist the participants in accessing appropriate resources and involvement in activities that help achieve the participant’s personal goals and the program’s requirements.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for working collaboratively with the House Manager, the Step Up Board and all community providers who provide services to the participant.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing a monthly written report for each participant to the Step Up Board.

  • Ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines and be flexible to varying program hours and participant needs.
  • Self-reliant, successful problem solver, goal oriented.
  • Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a culturally diverse group of young people and understand the needs of the participants.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of human service agencies.
  • Strong commitments to helping young people succeed in all aspects of Step Up’s program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, driver record check and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A deep desire to serve Christ through their work with program participants.

Desirable Education and Experience

  • Experience working with young adults in opportunity youth programs, education, life skills, counseling, and/ or employment and training programs.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in counseling, education, human services or related field preferred.

Compensation and Time Commitment

The Program Coordinator will be paid $16/hour, not to exceed two hours/participant/week.

Step Up may provide volunteer assistance to the Program Coordinator as needed and upon availability.
