Step Up

Housing Young Adults | Empowering Change | Transforming Lives

Did You Know?

Between 30% and 50% of youth exit the foster care system without a high school diploma or equivalent.

There is less than a 3% chance of a child who ages out of foster care achieving higher education.

Some 70% of former female foster care youth will be pregnant by age 21.

“On average, for every young person who ages out of foster care, taxpayers and communities pay $300,000 in social costs like public assistance, incarceration, and lost wages to a community over that person’s lifetime."
